Please allow me to first introduce myself. I am Fred Williams, the Founder and President of P.E.E.R.S., Inc., a recovery support program for Veterans in the Montgomery area. I am also a native son of Montgomery, a Certified Peer Support Specialist and a dedicated Veteran of the United States Air Force and Army National Guard. I have an endearing familiarity with the Montgomery community as well the Veteran population. My personal story and past life experiences are very similar and, in some cases, mirror that of the Veterans we meet at P.E.E.R.S. Inc. every day. I have overcome these struggles with support
and dedication and I now realize that others are not quite as fortunate. I have been blessed with this incredible vision and purpose to utilize my experiences, knowledge and resources to “serve those who served”.
P.E.E.R.S. Inc. Recovery Home for Veterans, (a 501(c)(3) non-profit), is a newly established recovery program as of February 2017 in Montgomery. The mission of P.E.E.R.S. Inc. is designed to meet the ever-increasing need for supportive follow-up services for our nation’s bravest population, military Veterans. The Veteran community faces the challenges of substance abuse, addiction, mental health limitations, unemployment and homelessness. It is not uncommon for Veterans to struggle with integration back into their families that they may have been separated during active duty or deployment. These individuals who have proudly served in the United States Armed Forces find a shortage of competent, user-friendly, after care programs and community resources that effectively address their unique needs as follow-up care to the programs offered by the Veterans Administration.
P.E.E.R.S. Inc. seeks to address the gaps in our local community services by meeting these unique needs. P.E.E.R.S. Inc. in Montgomery offers residential housing, daily meals, counseling, group meetings, peer support, spiritual development, workshops and training designed to assist with employment readiness, health education and transportation. In addition, one of the primary goals of the P.E.E.R.S. Inc. program is to adequately prepare our local Veterans for full community integration as productive, contributing citizens and ultimately placing them in their own homes.
As a community we all can help! While we at P.E.E.R.S. Inc. have established, in a short period of time, a wonderful residential living space in Montgomery to provide a home for the Veterans, we still need so much more. We are blessed to have seen P.E.E.R.S. Inc. grow tremendously over the past few months with the assistance of supportive citizens here in our city, however so much more is needed. These Veterans need our help to be empowered to return to their families, the work force and our community. I ask that you/your organization would consider donating to help us achieve our mission of helping our Veterans. All donations are greatly appreciated - be it monetary or in-kind gifts/ services. All contributions are fully tax deductible as well.
I whole heartedly thank you in advance for your generous support and the spirit in which it is given! Your donation is greatly appreciated and will be used to provide housing and services for the Veterans. For more information about P.E.E.R.S. Inc.
